Bright Star

Artisan Center Theater, February-March 2024

Roles: Director, Scenic Carpenter, Scenic Artist

This production of Bright Star was rooted in minimalism, symbolism, and emotional clarity. I centered the staging around twelve wooden cubes, used to create every location in the show. This approach empowered the ensemble to actively shape the world, emphasizing themes of memory, storytelling, and transformation.

A prominent oak tree stood as a constant visual anchor—representing time, loss, and connection—appearing in moments of both grief and healing. Floral imagery was used throughout to deepen character relationships, with flowers serving as physical markers of emotional shifts, memory, and intimacy.

These conceptual choices created a world that was both fluid and grounded, inviting the audience to engage deeply with the emotional journey at the heart of the story.
